His efforts led to Bar Camp Tokyo, May 16, 2009:
Tokyo Barcamp 2009: “As We May Think” will explore the future of the Internet and computing. How close have we come to the future that was envisioned by Ted Nelson, Vannevar Bush, Doug Englebart and H.G. Wells? Is Web 2.0 a step in the right direction? What about the semantic web?
Bar Camp Tokyo came together fast and it was a fantastic community experience. Karamoon brought together a group of over 100 Japan-based technology people, geeks, geek groupies (like me!;-) and we all spent a day going to spontaneous workshops on a variety of subjects: language, technological tools to support individuals and communities, lifehacks, HackerSpaces and more. You can see the list of campers here: http://barcamp.org/BarCampTokyo2009. And, around the web if you search for these urls and hash tags you’ll find lots of pictures, video and blogging about the event.
